| A Synopsis of Sueno Golf and Country Club, Belek, Turkey
Sueno Dunes
The easier of the two courses, the Dunes Course measure over 6500 yards however Sueno Dunes will punish poor play. Still employing the wild shaping of the links used on the Pines course the Dunes course utilises a more conventional resort bunker style thereby setting a resort style of challenge.
Hole 19- Chicane An easy opening Par 4 hole 19 is a sharp dogleg left. The intelligent approach is played directly at the mound the right of the green stunning the shot and letting it roll gently toward the pin. Finding the generous waster bunker will almost certainly add strokes to the card.
Hole 20- Hero Fortune follows the brave on this classic par 4. Taking the easier longer route around the central bunker in the fairway will only bring the greenside bunkers into play and display a narrow strip of the putting surface; however for those brave enough to play for the right hand strip will not only gain length but will have an unguarded approach into the green.
Hole 21- Scratch This medium length par 4 is dominated by the tiger claw bunker at the heart of its fairway which splits the tee shot. Doglegging right the ideal position from the tee is on the left to open up the well guarded green.
Hole 22- The Turtle A short par 3 skirted by water and surrounded by bunkers hole 22 is all about symmetry. Anything less than a well struck shot is sure to be rejected by the green.
Hole 23- Eucalyptus Barrens A long and straight par 4, hole 23 the golfer from the tee must be confident, otherwise the two fairway bunkers either side will catch a hook or slice. To make the best of the green the drive needs to land on the left-hand-side of the fairway, and if the drive is too far right then it is sure to bring the greenside bunker into play.
Hole 24- Hidden Depths A breather hole, this mid Par 4 hides a waste bunker far out to the right. Once the golfer plays through the valley the entire hole opens up to an inviting green which is set within a lake.
Hole 25- The Guard Playing down to this Par 3 presents a tough challenge thanks in no small part to a dominant Eucalyptus tree which is protecting the green, and if that isn’t enough the green is surrounded on the right by water.
Hole 26- Beeline A difficult hole for the short hitter, the drive on the 26th has to carry water and avoid a further lake to the left and a fairway bunker to the right. The heavily shaped green requires a right to left shot otherwise the slope might just reject the shot.
Hole 27- Lady Luck What this short Par 4 lacks in distance it makes up with the difficulty of the approach chip. A tight drive gives way to a lake side green, the wise player will prefer the left-hand-side of the fairway to avoid the carry over water.
Hole 28- Big Break This strategic hole ask for accuracy from the tee, try to cut the dogleg too much and you bring the bunkers into play, play the dogleg too wide and the same will happen. If struck well the player is rewarded with a commanding view of the green for the approach.
Hole 29- Ravine This short Par 4 hole plays through a big valley, a shorter hole but by no means easy it is heavily protect by a greenside waste bunker hole 29 has a tricky green but still a great birdie oportunity.
Hole 30- Knife Edge Take a rest - a medium Par 3, which is very birdie-able but to get there you have to carry a cavernous waste bunker, be wary of the pimple protecting the greens entrance.
Hole 31- Albatross A medium Par 5 this is an energy sapping hole. Shots on the right hand side run the risk of kicking further right and finding the waste bunker. Should the second shot be short then it will find water and the green is protected by two diagonal bunkers, making the green reachable in two but only with the very best of shots.
Hole 32- Crooked Vale This dogleg Par 4 is partially protected by mounding. A drive as close to the inside of the dogleg as possible gives the best angle into the green but the bunkers on the mound looks very dangerous. Don’t be put off.
Hole 33- Breathtaking A medium Par 4, this is a simple drive but the short shot will be heavily penalised by six strategic fairway bunkers. The danger isn’t over yet as the golfer is faced with one of the most difficult greens on the course.
Hole 34- Bonanza This Par 4 is short but it’s certainly not easy. With trouble on the left of the green the player must hold the tricky green to realistically hope for a par. The longer hitters will be looking to hit this in one.
Hole 35- Conundrum A little harder – this tricky par 3 has hidden ground between the fairway bunker and the green, be sure to take plenty of club and stay away from the greenside bunker.
Hole 36- Golden Sueno A great finishing hole, this medium strategic Par 4 is a straight drive but plays to the greatest feature on the golf course; the island green. With the clubhouse in the background this hole is difficult to forget and if you drop a shot in the lake you wont be the first! Sueno Dunes | | | | | | | Hole | Meters | S.
